1. 所有的詩歌都是韻文.
2. 新古典是藝文思潮範圍較大,沒有一定的年份;復辟時期是政治斷代,以清教徒政權結束起算.可以說,新古典包含了復辟時期.而John Milton因為是清教徒文學的代表,所以歸為新古典較妥.
*這個時期,如果大家看看英史課本中,各家的生辰年份,便會發現根本一樣.歸類,其實差不了幾年,都是為了區分風格與派別:William Shakespeare, John Donne; Robert Herrick, John Milton...根本緊緊相連,甚至重疊.

是的,桂冠詩人在不列顛的歷史上自12世紀開始.西元1617年,Charles I 賜 Ben Jonson 桂冠詩人頭銜,但到了1670年,才首次成為正式的公職官銜,而擔任此首任國家桂冠詩人的,就是英國的文學批評之父--John Dryden.此職幾乎為終身職,但到了1688年(你也知道,那時兩黨相爭),John Dryden不願效忠光榮革命之後的政府,所以就換了個聽話的小文人當了.

Technically speaking, "humor" means liquid. The Four Humors, in Medieval medicine, refers to the four types of fluids in the human body: blood, phlegm, choler(yellow bile), and melancholy (black bile, or spleen). They work their influences in the human body as the fluid form of the Four Elements: Blood is the fluid embodiment of the Air element; phlegm, Water; choler, Fire; melancholy, Earth. While blood leads to sanguine temperament, phlegm leads to phlegmatic (composed) temperament; while choler leads to choleric (irritable) temperament; melancholy is way too self-evident.
